2016 – 150 years old and counting...

The Club’s 150th Anniversary celebrations commenced with the official opening ceremony on the evening of Friday 15th April. The event was very well attended by the Provost, dignitaries from local and associated clubs and bodies plus, what must be, a record breaking attendance by 20 of the 24 available Past Presidents as well as an army of members and other official guests. The enjoyable evening was rounded off with an excellent buffet meal.

Friday was also the first chance, for many, to see the fruits of the off-season labours conducted by dedicated members and friends:

The ceiling above the dance floor had been renewed, whilst the dance floor had been sanded and sealed and the whole bar area repainted
All of the booth seating in the bar lounge and dining chairs in the lounge had been re-upholstered
Both the Ladies and Gents toilets having been spruced up, repainted with new fittings and fixtures installed
The exterior of the building and windows had also been given a fresh lick of paint
Perhaps the biggest change is to the downstairs locker area. The old room has been completely gutted to allow a large storeroom to be built, new carpets laid and 120 new lockers installed to replace the old
